About / 소개
한숨 / Hansoom is a collective breath, a heavy sigh of ancestral grief held in our lungs. It holds memories we can’t see, but can only feel in our hearts. Hansoom is an altar for what has come before us, what is here now, and what will come after.
Hansoom is Ben, Coco, Dalhe, Jin, and Karen. We are five diasporic Koreans, cute and queer as hell, based out of the Duwamish, Puyallup and Skokomish lands of the Puget Sound of the Pacific Northwest. We are diverse and strong, as is the entire Korean diaspora, and we are united behind our vision for liberation, peace, and prosperity for all people on this planet.
Hansoom is the name of our storytelling project, for Koreans by Koreans. The stories we share are part history, part lived experience, part spiritual expression, and part political education. So many of our stories have been erased by colonialism. To put down our stories is an act of resistance against forgetting.⠀
